New York Computer Recycling Components Is A Growing Business

Every computer, peripheral and smart phone we use works only because it contains a circuit board.   Circuit boards function as the “central nervous system” of almost every electronic device we use at home and at work.  If you need New York computer recycling services, even for computer parts, we can help.

When we get rid of obsolete computers and electronics, we may not realize that these circuit boards have some value and can be retrieved. That’s because they contain valuable metals and other elements, such as copper, gold and nickel.  As precious metal prices continue to rise, the price for scrap printed circuit boards has also gone up. As of October 2012, the price rose to over $8 per pound for the first time since February.

We can help your New Jersey or New York City business take full advantage of this increase in value.  Instead of simply discarding your old computers and other electronic equipment, we can work with you to maximize any residual value from these items with our New York computer recycling program.  We come to your company and take your old computers and equipment away for processing, absolutely FREE.

Here’s the best part: if the components in your unwanted computers, such as circuit boards, have any residual resale value, we will make you an offer and can pay you right away. Alternatively, you can wait and see what price we are able to get for your items, then we will split the amount with your company.

Recycling New York, Inc. is here to help your business in New York City or New Jersey recycle its obsolete computer equipment, peripherals, telephone equipment and much more, quickly and easily.

Will NYC Electronics Disposal Be Necessary?

It sounds crazy, but scientists are reporting that they’ve created “biodegradable electronics.”  This could eliminate the need for proper NYC electronics disposal.

According to one report, these researchers, they’ve “succeeded in creating tiny medical devices sealed in silk cocoons that did the work they were designed for, then dissolved in the bodies of lab mice. It’s an early step in a technology that may hold promise, not only for medicine, but also for disposal of electronic waste.”

The objects are said to look like very small translucent computer chips. Similar items already exist, to “dispense drugs or provide electrical stimulation,” but they must be removed surgically after their job is done.

Some are looking to the future and wondering if the same technology could one day be used in the manufacture of consumer devices like cell phones and computers.   As it stands, e-waste (that is, discarded computers, peripherals, telephone technology and other electronics) make up millions of tons of waste, much of it highly toxic unless proper NYC electronics disposal is performed. Unfortunately, much of it is not.

While “eating” your unwanted cellphone one day instead of tossing it in the trash, it is possible that this technology could eventually go into the manufacture of electronics and computers that would biodegrade in landfills instead of leeching toxic chemicals into them, like they currently do.  The good news is, you don’t have to wait for that day to come if you’re interested in “being green” and disposing of your e-scrap safely and quickly: just contact us.

We can come to your New Jersey or New York City business and perform NYC electronics disposal. We do this at no charge!  Then we take your old “stuff” and recycle or refurbish it at our state of the art facility. We may be able to donate this equipment to a local non-profit if you wish.

As an alternative, we will make you an offer on any items we think may have resale value. It’s true: you may get paid to recycle!  Contact Recycling New York, Inc. to find out how your New Jersey or New York City business can discard its old company cell phones, laptops, PDAs and much more.

New iPhone Presents New York City Electronics Recycling Challenge

Everyone’s talking about the new iPhone 5. Fans are excited about the latest offering from Apple, while others are criticizing its features.  Every release of a new computerized electronic “gadget” like the iPhone raises an issue fewer people are discussing: what’s the most environmentally friendly and business savvy way to get rid of your old cell phones?  Have you considered New York City electronics recycling?

According to one company CEO, “Nearly 2.5 million tons of electronics were discarded just in the U.S. in 2010, creating an incredible windfall of lithium, gold, neodymium, rare earths and other valuable materials headed for the dump. We plan to send it to the bank instead.”  Among that e-waste will one day be the 240 million iPhones Apple has sold since the product launched in 2007. That’s a lot of potential toxic waste, not to mention the loss of valuable metals and other materials.

Many companies  still don’t realize that we can help with New York City electronics recycling, and we are willing to help your employees transition to the new iPhone.  Whether you have a bunch of old cell phones to get rid of, or unused computers, printers, faxes and other office equipment sitting around gathering dust, call Recycling New York, Inc.   Your unwanted e-waste will be picked up at no charge to you and taken for recycling and refurbishing to our state of the art facility.

Best of all, if we think we can sell your e-waste through our network of resellers, we will make you an offer. Companies don’t usually get paid to recycle, but at Recycling New York, Inc., that’s our policy!

Computer Recycling Conference Boasts Record Attendance

Experts in the growing field of computer recycling met in Dallas, Texas in September 2012 to talk about the future of the electronics recycling industry.  Over 1,300 attendees came to the annual E-Scrap Conference, now in its tenth year. They hailed from 29 countries and 43 states, including New Jersey and New York.  The keynote speaker, Gary Shapiro of Consumer Electronics, told his audience, “We’ve all seen the horrible images of what can happen to electronics after they’re discarded,” noting that computers, peripherals and other equipment are not designed to break down in landfills.  He announced that one of the New York computer recycling industry’s biggest challenges will be to “change consumer behavior” by encouraging the proper disposal of e-waste.

David Daoud of International Data Corp. dismissed rumors that people were switching to iPads and other tablets and that therefore, the issue of how to recycle desktop computers would soon be less important.  “The PC is not dead — contrary to what you may have heard,” said Daoud. “There is still strong demand from enterprise but for the first time, consumer IT spending is outpacing enterprise.”  Making e-waste recycling easier for everyone was an overarching theme of the E-Scrap Conference.

Copper Recycling From Old Computers Expected to Increase

Did you know that the average desktop computer contains up to five pounds of copper? Or that old-fashioned cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions and computer monitors also contain copper?
As demand for copper increases along with its price, people are turning their attention to discarded computers and electronics as sources of this essential metal.  In fact, New York computer recycling has been a more practical solution because of this copper demand increases.

At a recent meeting of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Jason Schenker of Prestige Economics said, “I am bullish on copper for 2013 and beyond.”  The good news is, we specialize in salvaging copper, gold, silver and other precious and/or toxic metals and materials from your obsolete computers, phone systems and other equipment.

New iPhone 5 Release a Reminder To Recycle Old Cellphones

On September 12, 2012, Apple unveiled their eagerly awaited iPhone 5. This version of their popular smart phone has a bigger screen and more powerful chip, and claims to make wireless Internet speeds even faster. The iPhone 5 will also be even lighter and thinner than the previous model.  The phone goes on sale September 21. If history is any indication, Apple fans will be lining up early to get their hands on the new iPhone 5.  However, lost in all the buzz about the new Apple iPhone is the problem of what will happen to all the old mobile phones about to be discarded by consumers when they purchase the new one.  Recycling New York would like to remind you our NYC electronics recycling services.

The fact is, cellphones of all kinds can and should be recycled when they are no longer wanted.  According to one source, approximately 7% of cell phone owners simply toss their obsolete cellphones in the trash. This sounds like a low percentage, but keep in mind that tens of millions of mobile phones are in use in the United States at any given time!  The problem is that cell phones contain toxic components that, if thrown into landfills, will eventually leech into the surrounding soil and water, thereby contaminating the food supply. It also means that already overflowing landfills are filled with mobile phones and other electronics, computers and “gadgets” that could just as easily be recycled with our NYC electronics recycling services.

Cell phone batteries and circuit boards contain precious metals like gold, silver and copper, along with hazardous materials like lead.  Many of these and other rare components have to be mined at great expense, and processed in ways that increase pollution.   By removing these valuable and reusable components from mobile phones during recycling, we can reduce need for all the mining that already destroys natural habits around the globe.

New York Computer Recycling: The Truth About Manufacturers’ Takeback Programs

Americans purchase millions of new computers, smart phones and electronic devices every year. Eager to be seen as environmentally and socially responsible, many major manufacturers now offer “takeback” programs, promising services like New York computer recycling if you send it back to them after you upgrade to their new products.

Takeback programs sound like a great idea, and they are certainly a step in the right direction. After all, these programs keep tons of old computers (and their dangerous components) out of landfills.  However, the catch is that the consumer is often the one who has to pay the costs to ship their old “stuff” back to the original manufacturer.   For many people, packing and shipping a heavy computer or similar piece of equipment back to the manufacturer is just more trouble than it’s worth. It can also be expensive.

For example, Acer charges between $15 and $40 for shipping when you send your old computer back to them. According to a watchdog group that monitors manufacturer takeback programs, however, Acer “does not have a policy against exporting toxic e-waste to developing nations.”   The export of old electronics from America and Europe to developing nations for recycling or refurbishing is a growing phenomenon that may critics decry because of the lax regulations and poor working conditions in “Third World” countries.  Don’t use these takeback programs.  Instead, use services like the New York computer recycling service offered in the New York and New Jersey area by Recycling New York.

That’s why Recycling New York, Inc. is proud of the fact that we do not ship any of the items we process overseas. All our NYC electronics recycling and refurbishing is carried out in the United States.  What also makes Recycling New York, Inc. a desirable alternative to manufacturers’ takeback programs is simple: Our team comes to your New Jersey or New York City office and hauls away your old, unwanted electronics, office equipment, computers, telephone equipment, surplus inventory and much more – at NO CHARGE to you!  Better yet, you may even earn money from this old equipment if we are able to find a buyer for it. New York Computer Recycling: What Are the Benefits?

Try to imagine a herd of 600,000 elephants. It’s pretty hard to do.  Yet according to the Environmental Protection Agency, the amount of old computers, electronics and other e-waste Americans generated every single year weighs about as much as all those elephants: around 3.2 million tons!  We have special bins to collect paper and plastics for recycling, but what about all this e-waste? Now more than ever, it’s important to recycle our unwanted office equipment, old cellphones, “smart” appliances and other items we normally don’t think of as “recyclable.” Many people don’t even consider using a New York computer recycling service.

For one thing, New York computer recycling keeps them out of landfills. This keeps the limited landfill space available for items that actually belong there. Computers and other electronics also have toxic components that can leech metals and minerals into the ground and water supply, which in turn contaminates our soil and food.  Furthermore, recycling allows us to scavenge these valuable metals – such as gold, silver and copper – out of computers, cellphones and peripherals. By doing this, we help reduce the need to mine for more of these metals and further damage the natural environment.

If an old computer is still operable, it makes a much-needed donation to a charity or non-profit group. In a world where computer literacy is of the utmost importance, these donations give people in need the chance to learn new skills and information in a way they couldn’t otherwise afford.  Recycling e-waste is important, but many people believe it is just too much trouble. That’s where Recycling New York, Inc. comes in.

Recycling New York, Inc. will come directly to your New Jersey or New York City business location. Then we take away your old, unwanted electronics, office equipment, computers and much more – absolutely FREE!  Better yet, you may even earn money from this old equipment if we are able to find a buyer for it.   Not sure what counts as “e-waste”? What Is Your Cellphone Really Made Of?

When we look down at our cellphone or laptop, we probably see something made of black or white metal and plastic. However, what’s inside these and other computers and electronics is very different.  Gold, silver and platinum: They sound like they belong in a jewelry box, but your cellphone couldn’t work without these and other metals.   In fact, these precious metals, as well as palladium, copper, tin and zinc can actually be recovered from old used mobile phones and used to make jewelry! Some of these recovered components are used in the manufacture of new electronics as well.  Did you know you can use Recycling New York for NYC electronics recycling, data destruction and business liquidation services.

According to the Mother Nature Network:

“One million recycled cellphones will yield nearly $2 million in gold and more than $370,000 in silver” along with “5,274 pounds of copper and 33 pounds of palladium.”

Unfortunately, millions of old cellphones are discarded without being recycled first. The same is true of desktop and laptop computers. An old desktop computer sitting in a basement or spare office collecting dust can contain up to five pounds of copper.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “One metric ton of circuit boards has 40 to 800 times the amount of gold as one metric ton of ore.”

Again, tons of old unwanted computers, printers and other office equipment are thrown into landfills every year. Not only does this in and of itself cause environmental damage when these toxins leech into the surrounding ground and water supply, but it also means that more environmentally destructive mining has to be done to bring a fresh supply of metals into the booming electronics marketplace.  If your company in the New York or New Jersey area is holding on to unwanted electronics and computers because you don’t know how to get rid of them, now is the time to call Recycling New York, Inc.  Recycling New York offers NYC electronics recycling services to help you get properly get rid of e-waste.

Recycling New York, Inc. ensures that any valuable components are removed from your equipment before we complete the recycling process.

In fact, you may even earn money from this old equipment if we are able to find a buyer for it!
